Under the direction of the Senior Editor Digital News, the interactive producer is a multimedia journalist who creates and packages daily news items, feature stories and original content for KQED's digital news platforms and social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Next Door.
The interactive producer will create unique, shareable content that can stand alone on the web and social media. This includes, but is not limited to: maps, photo galleries or additional reporting on any KQED News blogs.
The producer manages editorial programming on news front doors, social media accounts and other channels of content distribution. A strong candidate is adept at story selection, headline and tease writing, copyediting, photo selection and editing and audio editing.
This role is part of the KQED interactive news team, creating daily news coverage primarily for KQEDNews.org, as well as production of original online features and series.
The producer prepares and formats text, photo and audio content for posting on various KQED blogs, web sites, mobile apps, social media platforms and other digital venues. This can include transforming radio scripts / transcripts into blog posts; securing, editing, writing captions for and publishing photographs, including taking photographs; editing, encoding and publishing audio content online; and cross-referencing related editorial material from other KQED departments and content from third-party services.
