KQED is hiring for a new on-call announcer operator, one of the company’s key FM radio roles, performing as the voice of KQED FM on air and connecting our national programming with our local news, traffic and information.

The KQED Radio on-call Announcer Operator performs all duties associated with the on-air broadcast operation of KQED FM and KQEI FM. KQED Radio Master Control is operated live, 24/7.

This is a Temporary/On Call position, and on-air shifts are assigned depending on on-call Announcer Operator availability.

This role will work hybrid between working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters and working remotely. KQED requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or to provide documentation of a need for exemption.

 

Salary range information will be provided to applicants who are contacted for an interview

 

This is a union position. A successful applicant will be required to join NABET-CWA Local 51.

Essential Functions:  

              Performs on-air broadcast announcing and operations duties.             

Operates Master Control radio broadcast and production equipment, including but not limited to: audio consoles, microphones, file-based digital production/play out/delivery systems, audio distribution/routing systems, IP over satellite, ISDN/telephony, and remote transmitters.

Maintains transmitter and programming logs.

Produces/engineers live newscasts, live pledge segments, station breaks, and other production, as assigned. 

Adheres to FCC Rules and Regulations.

              Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Experience Required:

Radio broadcast announcing experience in a combo operation.

Extensive experience with digital/analog broadcast equipment.

Digital audio production and editing experience.

Working knowledge of audio signal flow.

Working knowledge of the Windows operating system.

Good announcing technique and delivery.

Ability to read sponsor and document copy.

Experience with FCC Rules compliance in a radio broadcast environment.

Knowledge/Experience Desired:

Experience in News and Information format preferred.

News reading capability.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
