The Mid-Level Giving Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of current and prospective mid level members (defined as $1,000-$4,999), including cultivation, solicitation, and strategy as well as stewardship and data analysis. To expand donor capacity, engagement, and philanthropy, the Mid-Level Giving Officer creates opportunities for donors and prospects to become engaged with KQED’s mission and to learn about organizational programs that align with their giving interests. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Mid-Level Giving, this position also collaborates within the larger Mid-Level and Membership teams, the Development team and with departments across the organization. The ideal candidate will be curious, independent and have experience with membership programs, development/fundraising, creating communication strategies and implementing stewardship. Attention to detail, strong project management skills, and experience with CRM systems and databases are key qualities for this position. Strong phone, writing, and mail merge skills are critical. Familiarity with moves management, major gifts programs, public media fundraising and event-planning is also highly desirable.

This role will work hybrid between working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters and working remotely. KQED requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Salary Range: $86,500-$ 108,000

Essential Functions:

  • Manages a tiered portfolio of 400-700 current and prospective mid-level members with planned touch points, prompt thanking and timely solicitations, with a premium placed on donor retention and increased giving. 
     
  • Responsible for developing and achieving revenue goals associated with their portfolio, as well as forecasting portfolio revenue.  
     
  • Manages relationships with prospective and current mid-level members using multiple channels, including phone, email, personal mail, Zoom and face-to-face meetings, when appropriate, while also engaging donors through consistent stewardship and active cultivation to increase member support, achieve revenue goals and enhance the member experience.
     
  • Working closely with Associate Director of Mid-Level Giving, develop and implement analysis on financial trends, key performance indicators (KPIs) and testing successes; ensure data-driven decision making on current and future strategy, to continuously strengthen relationships and increase revenue. 
     
  • Updates the ROI Solutions database with donor touchpoints like notes from calls, member interactions and emails or new/updated information about members.
     
  • Learns about KQED programs and projects and effectively communicates the work as well as KQED’s  mission to donors.
     
  • Determines which donors would benefit from more personalization and increased frequency of contact. 
     
  • Attends and assists with KQED programs, cultivation and stewardship events as needed.
     
  • Ensures appropriate and consistent donor-centric communications in all materials, such as solicitation, acknowledgement, stewardship and customer service. Participate in writing, editing, image sourcing and content approval.
     
  • Collaborate within the Mid-Level team, with the Membership and Development teams, and across the organization with Audience Development, Marketing & Communications as well as other teams and individuals, to strengthen the organization and remove silos. 
     
  • Monitor fundraising trends (especially public media giving trends) and attend webinars, educational sessions on fundraising, or conferences to identify effective new fundraising approaches and solutions.
     
  • Other essential duties as required.


Required Experience:

  1. Minimum of four years experience in fundraising/development in the annual fund, mid-level, or major gift area with at least one year of experience with membership and/or managing a portfolio.
  2. Proven track record of meeting revenue goals and setting budgets.
  3. Proficiency with MS Office and database management; experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Revolution Online (ROI) preferred. 
  4. Excellent phone, writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail, copy editing and experience writing in multiple “voices.”
  5.  The individual should be energetic, self-directed and assertive, and also flexible, creative and understanding.  
  6. Communication and interpersonal skills must be at the highest possible level.
