Title: Development Specialist

Schedule Format - Location: Hybrid - San Francisco

Pay Information: $25.00-$31.00 per hour


Position Summary: The Development Specialist provides diversified administrative and operational support to the Office of Philanthropy at KQED, including Major Gifts, Planned Gifts, Foundations, and Grants, and other aligned departments. The Development Specialist reports to the Director of Development Operations. The Specialist plays a critical role on the Development team, ensures an excellent donor experience, and whose work contributes to meeting KQED revenue goals. 

 

This role is a hybrid work position, with three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) at KQED’s San Francisco office and two days work-from-home (with occasional exceptions). As part of our year-end fundraising efforts, the Development Specialist should be available to work in the office during the last two weeks of December except for major holidays.

This role will work hybrid between working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters and working remotely. 

Essential Functions: 

Email Marketing and Donor Communications

  • Collaborate on the production of the e-newsletter, annual donor report, and donor stewardship reports
  • Train on the email marketing platform and contribute to the workflow of donor stewardship communications
  • Gain expertise in the Engaging Networks email marketing platform to enhance donor communication

Events and Stewardship

  • Serve as liaison between development and membership and mid-level giving teams for events, communications, and stewardship, and with KQED event programming
  • Provide support for donor events and other Development Team-related events, including coordinating RSVPs, attendee lists, name tags, and serving on-site, front-of-house at donor events. 
  • Coordinate logistics for donor meetings, including alerting security and parking personnel, as well as arranging room reservations, setup, and breakdown. 
  • Prepare donor correspondence, including acknowledgments and solicitation letters.
  • Assist with sorting, editing, and performing mail merges of mailing lists and lists of prospects/donors

Administrative Support

  • Assist with the production, review, and editing of materials (e.g., correspondence, presentations, reports, charts, etc.) for donors, prospects, executive leadership, and others
  • Assist in the production and tracking of funder credits, including the production of television spots, and work with corporate sponsorships operations leads
  • Act as backup to the Analyst in support of gift processing and assist in tracking pledge commitments, payment schedules, data cleanup, and invoicing
  • Providing calendar support, including scheduling of internal meetings and external meetings as appropriate
  • Assist with prospect and funder research. 
  • Curate biweekly Development team meeting agendas to solicit topics, updates, and special guests and secure space and technology as needed for presentations

Knowledge & Skills

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office suite such as mail merge
  • Highly organized and able to effectively manage competing priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail in a dynamic, multitasking environment

Physical Demands:
