This is a paid internship, working 16 hours per week from July 7th, 2025 through September 30th, 2025. Current Salary is $19.18 per hour.
The Marketing team at KQED is working to build a new generation of public media and KQED supporters, and the Marketing Intern will be part of bringing this important mission to life. In this role, you will assist with campaign development and promotional efforts across KQED. You’ll help shape messaging, support brand storytelling, and engage new and existing audiences. This is a great opportunity to learn more about marketing and public media while making a meaningful impact in the community.

KQED provide citizens of Northern California with a community-supported alternative to commercial media. We provide citizens with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions; convene community dialogue; bring the arts to everyone and engage audiences to share their stories. We help students and teachers thrive in 21st-century classrooms, and take people of all ages on journeys of exploration- exposing them to new people, places and ideas.
This role requires working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters and working in the field. KQED requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to shape messaging and creative strategy across campaigns
- Assist the Marketing Manager with the execution of KQED’s owned and earned channels (e.g. copywriting radio cross-promotions)
- Conduct marketing and media research to inform brand strategy and storytelling
- Support cross-functional initiatives by building Google Slide decks, collecting data, and tracking asset timelines
- Manage inventory and support operations for the KQED Merchandise Kiosk and Photobooth
- Identify creative marketing opportunities and support team brainstorming
- Help document marketing workflows, templates, and department playbooks
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the marketing team
- Help coordinate campaign deliverables and production timelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Experience Required:
- Proficiency in G-Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
- Collaborative and proactive team player
- Passion for marketing and storytelling with the ability to stay on top of industry trends
- Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Media Studies, Journalism, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in copywriting and messaging
- Familiarity with marketing in nonprofit or media environments
- Comfort working with light data and reporting tools
- Interest in learning about audience engagement and campaign strategy
