KQED is seeking a Director of Gift Planning to join our team of two gift planners.  Reporting to the Senior Director of Gift Planning, the position is responsible for managing a robust portfolio of individual donors and prospects.  The Director works closely with major gift officers to secure planned, major and blended gifts from major donors, current KQED members and non-members.

This role will work hybrid between working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters and working remotely. KQED requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 years of planned gift or major gift fundraising experience
  • Ability to interact on a professional level with donors' legal and financial advisors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Expertise in gift planning principles and vehicles preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of planned giving donors and prospects through correspondence, phone calls and personal visits; attain a goal of 120 prospect visits per year with long-term revenue goals
  • Collaborate with colleagues on gift planning stewardship and marketing projects
  • Develop and maintain current expertise in tax, trust, probate and other laws affecting charitable giving
