Limited Term: Development Associate

The Development Associate assists with the acknowledgement of annual and special campaign gifts. This position works under the direction of the Associate Director of Development Operations and in close coordination with Director, Campaign 21.

This is a full-time position, limited-term until December 31, 2021. This position is based in San Francisco.

This position is essential to KQED’s daily functions and operations, and will be working at the physical office twice per week.

Essential Functions:

  • Draft donor acknowledgement letters. Circulate letters for approval and signature. Scan and attach complete letters to Salesforce records. Fulfill acknowledgement mailings (folding, adding collateral, mailing) as needed.
  • Update templates to reflect changing departmental information, staffing, tax/retirement account regulations. Work with the Campaign and Leadership Giving teams to optimize acknowledgement letter language and customizations for donor stewardship.
  • Examine transaction detail to ensure proper coding based on backup, proper categorization (Renewal, Upgrade, Additional, Campaign), and correct giving level benefits (or declination thereof). Address internal questions pertaining to source documentation and generated acknowledgement letters.
  • Assist the Campaign and Leadership Giving teams with ad hoc mailings as needed.
  • Where possible, inform and improve mailing and acknowledgement procedures (including batch acknowledgements through reporting).
  • Assist C21 team in generating and mailing commitment materials, payment reminders, and payment acknowledgements.
  • Enter and process gift records in Salesforce in coordination with Development Operations team. Store digital copies of donor letters, agreements, and checks.

Knowledge/Experience Required:

  1. High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce or related CRM.
  2. High level of attention to detail required. 
  3. Experience generating mail-merges from database required.
  4. Excellent spoken and written language skills.
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  6. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Knowledge/Experience Desired:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  2. 1-2 years relevant office experience desired.
  3. Excellent skill at and experience with high volume of correspondence.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy. 
  5. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with ease, and efficiency.
  6. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
