Position Description

KQED helps educators to create engaging, media-rich learning environments to support both content learning and media literacy skill development by promoting media making, student voice, civic engagement, creative expression, and inquiry-based learning using digital media.

This part-time, limited term position (through December 2026) supports the implementation of the US Department of Education’s American History and Civics (AHC) grant through a combination of administrative support related to managing grant activities and deliverables, coupled with outreach and engagement with teachers and other stakeholders related to the grant. The full scope of the grant includes the creation of an inquiry-based curriculum bridging media making with an action civics approach to studying the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. This will be followed by piloting the curriculum nationwide and culminating with releasing the curriculum to a national audience of social studies teachers.

KQED envisions a public media organization with a culture that centers on human dignity, equity, and belonging. This will enable us to better serve and reflect the Bay Area through diverse and inclusive storytelling.

We value the contributions of marginalized people in society — including Black, Indigenous, and all people of color,  people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ people — and we believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do, and we strongly encourage members of these communities to apply.
